Description
The spear is the least forgiving of the Wudang weapons. Try to muscle it with the arm and shoulder and it will find every weakness in your structure within minutes — the wrist buckles, the elbow aches, the shaft wobbles. There’s no faking it. You either root, connect the whole body, and let the ground do the work, or the spear finds you out.
That’s exactly why it’s trained.
What you’re actually training
This isn’t weapon choreography. The 3-metre waxwood shaft is a diagnostic tool — it amplifies every gap in your alignment and feeds it straight back to you. Over time that feedback rewires how you move:
• Whole-body force, not arm strength. Every thrust and parry has to come from the ground up through the pelvis and spine, not the shoulder. Isolate the arm and the spear punishes you for it.
• Tendon and connective tissue conditioning. The slow holds and dynamic loading in this form build genuine tendon and fascial resilience — the kind that takes years to develop and doesn’t come from lifting weights alone.
• Rotational power (Fa Jin) without strain. You’ll learn to load the diagonal slings of the torso and release stored elastic energy, rather than muscling a strike through.
• Low-stance conditioning. Several postures sink deep into wide stances and crouches, opening the hips and building the kind of mobility most adults lose in their twenties and never get back.
• Sharper proprioception. Handling a long, flexible weapon at speed trains your nervous system to sense structure and balance with far more precision than empty-hand practice alone.
Inside the course
The full traditional Wu-Cheng lineage form — 15 postures, taught in sequence from Beginning Style through to the Completion Style, including:
• Green Dragon Stretching Claw — the core thrusting engine of the form
• Golden Dragon Swinging Tail — low sweeping work for hip and ankle mobility
• Giant Python Turning Head — rapid rotational awareness training
• Celestial Horse Walks Skies — the form’s advanced leaping strike
Each posture is broken down for alignment, footwork, and the specific benefit it’s building — not just “do this, then this.”
Who this is for
Anyone who wants to take their root, power generation, and body connection further. No prior weapons experience needed — just a willingness to be told by a stick of wood exactly where your structure breaks down. Any stick or spear like object can be used, though it is recommended to eventually graduate to the 8-9ft heavy spears which can be sourced easily online.
What you get
• Full spear form, single practice exercises, applications, pushing spears, taught posture by posture, filmed and edited for clarity
• Lifetime access, self-paced
• Direct from the Wudang lineage — no shortcuts, no fluff
